Die Pflanzen des Englischen Thymians sind maximal 7 cm hoch. Es ist eine atlantische Pflanze, die von Spanien bis Norwegen nahe der Küste vorkommt. In britischen Florenwerken wird die Sippe meist einfach als Thymus polytrichus bezeichnet, was allerdings missverständlich ist, weil dieser im Landesinneren des kontinentalen Europa andere Eigenschaften besitzt (z.B. Höhe und Stängelbehaarung).

British Thyme plants are a maximum of 7 cm high. It is an Atlantic plant found from Spain to Norway near the coast. In British floral works, the clan is usually referred to simply as Thymus polytrichus, which, however, is mistakable because this has different characteristics (e.g. height and stem pilosity) in inland continental Europe.
