Die Grünliche Waldhyazinthe  Platanthera chlorantha ist neben der Weißen Waldhyazinthe Platanthera bifolia und Müllers Waldhyazinthe Platanthera pervia eine der drei in Mitteleuropa vorkommenden Waldhyazinthen. Sie ist leicht zu erkennen an den weit auseinanderliegenden und schräg stehenden Pollinien. Wie bei Platanthera pervia ist ihr Sporneingang freiliegend und sichtbar.
Im mittleren Schwarzwald und im Taunus gibt es Waldhyazinthen, deren Blüten zwar aussehen wie die von Platanthera chlorantha, die aber genetisch stark davon abweichen, sodass ihre Zuordnung und Benennung noch ungeklärt werden konnte. Sippen, bei denen Morphologie und Genetik derartig widersprüchlich sind, werden in der Botanik 'kryptische Arten' genannt, es gibt so etwas auch bei anderen Gattungen, z.B. bei Lathyrus. Provisorisch werden diese Platanthera unter dem Arbeitsnamen 'pseudochlorantha' geführt. Ich habe diese Pflanzen noch nicht selbst gesehen.

The Greater Butterfly Orchid  Platanthera chlorantha is, alongside the Lesser Butterfly Orchid Platanthera bifolia and Müller's Butterfly Orchid Platanthera pervia one of the three Butterfly Orchids found in Central Europe. It is easy to recognize by its inclined and widely spaced pollinia. As with Platanthera pervia its spur entrance is exposed and visible.
In the central Black Forest and in the Taunus there are Butterfly Orchids, whose flowers look like those of Platanthera chlorantha, but which are genetically very different, so that their classification and naming is still unclear. Taxa in which morphology and genetics are so contradictory are called 'cryptic species' in botany, this occurs in other genera, too, e.g. in Lathyrus. Provisionally these Platanthera are called by the working name 'pseudochlorantha'. I have not yet seen these plants myself.
