The orchids, which consist of about 36 genera and more than 500 species and subspecies in the European flora area, are a relative young less stabilized family of plants. Within it there are hybrids (bastards) between closely related species more frequently occurring than in other families of plants. When I sometimes find a hybrid at an orchid site, I am always fascinated, especially about hybrids of genus Ophrys and about the rare hybrids between species of different genera. The arrangement of the photo of the hybrid between those of the parents shows the portion of attributes which a certain hybrid got from each of its parents.
