| Synon.: Ophrys brachyotes RCHB. |
| Genus: Ophrys L. |
Ophrys brachyotus was described by Reichenbach in 1830. The name refers to plants with rather small-flowered bumblebee flowers, which mostly grow in the valleys of the Western and Southern Alps. The species is likely closely related to Ophrys tetraloniae. Some authors include also Ophrys holoserica subsp. lorenae, which occurs mainly in the Northern Italian provinces Emilia-Romagna, Tuscany, and Marche to Ophrys brachyotus. |
