Etymology:
   Taraxacum:   Persian plant name
   bellicum:   armed (leaf form)
   prunicolor:   plum colored
 

Often the outer sepals and other green parts are tinged with red. The shape of the leaves is between those of Taraxacum lacistophyllum and those of Taraxacum rubicundum. Taraxacum bellicum has light reddish brown fruits.
