Etymologie / Etymology:
Papaver: | römischer Name des Mohns / Roman name of Poppy
dubium: | zweifelhaft / doubtful
confine: | angrenzend / adjacent
Subspecies confine differs mainly by stiff pilosity at the lower part of the stem from the nominal subspecies of the Long-Headed Poppy Papaver dubium. There are also differences in the colors of flowers and of the fresh and dried milky sap. In our region of the Upper Rhine Valley in South-West Germany mainly subspecies confine is occurring.
