All six tepals of Koch's Rush are pointed and colored dark red to purple-brown, while the three inner sepals of the nominate clan Juncus bulbosus are blunt at the tip, and the color of the tepals is lighter. The flowers of Koch's Rush have six stamens, those of the nominate genus Juncus bulbosus only three. The fruit of Koch's Rush has an attached tip, while that of the nominate clan Juncus bulbosus does not. However, Koch's Rush is not separated from Juncus bulbosus by all authors as an own taxon. | ||
