Außer im Süden Italiens kommt Gagea apulica auch im Süden von Frankreich vor, zum Beispiel in meernahen Biotopen im Departement Bouches du Rhone, u.a. in der Crau. Die grünen Teile der Pflanze sollen hellgrün sein, und nur eine Höhe von 4 Zentimeter erreichen. Vermutlich blüht sie extrem früh im Jahr.
