In Niederösterreich fand ich in einem Leinacker Hanf als 'Unkraut', der wie der Lein Linum usitatissimum nur etwa 40 Zentimeter hoch war. Diese kleinwüchsige Hanf-Sippe wird als Cannabis sativa var. spontanea bezeichnet, um sie von dem als Faser- und Ölpflanze angebauten Kultur-Hanf  Cannabis sativa var. sativa und vom rauschmittelhaltigen medizinischen Indischen Hanf  Cannabis indica LAM. zu unterscheiden.

In Lower Austria I found in a flax field hemp as a weed, which like the flax Linum usitatissimum was only about 40 centimeters tall. This small-growing clan of hemp is called Cannabis sativa var. spontanea, in order to differ it from Industrial Hemp  Cannabis sativa var. sativa which is used to gain fibres and oil, and from Cannabis indica LAM. which is grown because of its psychoactive and medical effects.
