Die zyprische Ophrys umbilicata s.l. mit etwas größerer Lippe als üblich wurde als Ophrys orientalis abgetrennt. Der Name orientalis wurde bereits 1929 als Ophrys cornuta subsp. orientalis von Jany Renz für diese Orchidee angewandt.

The Cyprian Ophrys umbilicata s.l. with somewhat bigger lip than usual has been separated as Ophrys orientalis. The name orientalis has already been applied by Jany Renz in 1929 for this orchid as Ophrys cornuta subsp. orientalis.
