Dieses Taraxacum gehört zur Sektion Erythrosperma, den Schwielen- oder Heide-Löwenzähnen. Auf Fig. 15 bis 17 sind die Schwielen an den Spitzen der Kelchblätter zu sehen, die für den deutschen Namen Pate standen, und die das bestimmende Merkmal für die Zuordnung eines Löwenzahns zur sect. Erythrosperma darstellen. Die Früchte dieser Art sind graubraun, manchmal ziemlich hell.
