Etymology:
   Saxifraga:   saxum = rock, frangere = to break
   hostii:   Nicolaus Thomas Host (1761 - 1834), Austrian physician and botanist (HOST)
 

Saxifraga hostii is growing in the lime areas of the eastern Alpes. The photos were taken in the Botanical Garden of the University of Heidelberg, Germany.
