Salvia hispanica stammt nicht aus Spanien, sondern aus Mittelamerika zwischen Mexiko und Equador. Die öligen Samen werden zur Ernährung genutzt, sie werden 'Mexikanische Chia' genannt. 'Chia' bedeutet in der mittelamerikanischen Indianersprache Nahuatl 'ölig'. Salvia hispanica is not native to Spain but comes from Central America between Mexico and Ecuador. The oily seeds are used for alimentation. These are called 'Chia' which means 'oily' in the language Nahuatl of Central American Indians. | ||
