Das Frühblühende Hügel-Fingerkraut Potentilla praecox gehört zur Gruppe um Potentilla collina. Diese Pflanze, deren Blätter keine Zackenhaare (unvollständige Sternhaare) aufweisen, stehen zwischen Potentilla argentea agg. und Potentilla neumanniana, und dürfte von hybridogenem Ursprung sein. Potentilla praecox hat wenige Wuchsorte im deutsch-schweizerischen Grenzgebiet. In Kultur ist ihre Blütezeit nicht früher als die anderer Potentilla collina s.l.-Sippen.

Potentilla praecox belongs to the group around Potentilla collina. This plant without cusp hairs (incomplete star hairs) on the leaves is standing between Potentilla argentea agg. and Potentilla neumanniana. Most probably these plants are of hybridogenous origin. Potentilla praecox has few sites in the region of the German - Swiss border. In culture its flower time is not earlier than that of other Potentilla collina s.l. clans.
