Pinguicula: | diminutive of pinguis = fat (shiny leaves) | ||

Pinguicula hirtiflora is treated as a species by the Flora Europaea. But in later literature it is taken as subspecies of Pinguicula crystallina from Cyprus, which I can't understand because the plants are very different. Perhaps the Pinguicula hirtiflora populations, which are mentioned between the French Alpes and Greek mountains, aren't the same species. | ||
