Ornithogalum gussonei is smaller than most species of the Ornithogalum umbellatum agg. aggregate. Closer than to the latter ones it is related to Ornithogalum collinum and Ornithogalum exscapum, what specialists recognise by the inner structure of the bulb. Its flowers are smaller than 2 cm in diameter, have shorter stems, and a dark spot on the connective between the two half pollines (but this is rather shrouded and can't be seen on my photos). The top of the ovary is rounded (see Fig. 3), which is different to that of Ornithogalum collinum. The filaments under the pollines are lineal (see Fig. 3). The narrow leaves of only about 1,5 mm width with white center stripe are usually faded when the plant is in flower. Literature: SPETA, F. (1990), Ornithogalum gussonei TEN., O. collinum GUSS. und O. exscapum TEN., drei häufig verkannte, aus Italien beschriebene Arten
