Lysichiton americanus originates from the Western part of North America, and is also grown in gardens and parks in Europe.
First in Great Britain, later also in Ireland, Scandinavian countries, and Germany it was observed to run wild at wet places.
In between selling of the plant is prohibited according to the EU edict on invasive alien species.
