Etymology:
Luzula:   diminutive of lux = light (core used as wick)
   luzuloides:   wood-rush-like
   cuprina:   copper colored
   rubella:   reddish

The Luzula luzuloides from high altitude sites, e.g. from Feldberg and Belchen in the Black Forest, regularly have a blurred red dot on the blossoms. In the history these plants got several supspecies names. However the difference can't be seen in fruiting state anymore (and also not at dry herbarium specimens).
