Etymology:
Laburnum:   anagram of alburnum = white sapwood
   anagyroides:   Anagyris-like

The common Laburnum anagyroides differs from the Alpine Laburnum Laburnum alpinum by clinging hairy twigs, bottom sides of leaves, and fruit pods. At the Alpine Laburnum Laburnum alpinum these parts are bald. Both species come from Southeast Europe, and are cultivated as ornamental shrubs in gardens and parks. Only Laburnum anagyroides reproduces spontaneously in Southwest Germany.
