There are about 700 Eucalyptus species. None of these is a European plant, they origin from Australia and Tasmania. Eucalyptus introduced in Southern Europe are cultivated because of the fast growing but hard wood, and for drying out of wet places. Other Eucalyptus are grown for gaining of ethereal essentials or because of the aesthetical effect of the flowers.
