Equisetum x trachyodon grows at similar locations as Equisetum x moorei, e.g. at the shore in the upper Rhine valley,
but it is more daintily. Today it often grows still where its parent Equisetum variegatum is long extinct.
As the Rough Horsetail it is green in winter.
Its spore bearings have a more pronounced tip than those of the Rough Horsetail.
