Crocus neglectus originates from Tuskany, Emilia Romagna, and Liguria in North-Western Italy. In Germany there are e.g. at Zavelstein (Baden-Württemberg) and Husum (Schleswig-Holstein) big occurrences of the species, to where Crocus neglectus shall already have been introduced in the late middle ages. From Crocus neapolitanus it differs by different chromosome number, deeper incised stigma lobes, and thicker tunic fibers around the bulb. | ||
