As the sweet Orange Tree Citrus x sinensis the Bitter Orange came into being as a breeding based on Pomelo (Grapefruit) Citrus maxima and Mandarin Citrus reticulata. Most probably the origin of the Bitter Orange is the Southern Himayala or the mountains of China. To Italy it has already been introduced in the 11th century. | ||
