Etymology:
	Aetheorhiza:	aethe = unusual, rhiza = root

	Crepis:	krepis = shoe, already used as plant name by Theophrast
	Sonchus:	Greek name of a thistle-like plant

According to its appearance Aetheorhiza bulbosa has formerly been put into the relationship of Hawk's-Beard (Crepis), but new genetic investigation showed that the plant is closer related to the Sow-Thistles (Sonchus). The bulbs from which it got the name 'bulbosa' are not available at all specimens.
