Ophrys benacensis, the bertoloniiforme clan from the Southern-Alpine Lakes of Italy, which REISIGL had described in 'Die Orchidee' in 1972, is pollinated by the same bee as the neighbour clan Ophrys aurelia. For that reason many botanists don't take it as an own species anymore. However at the isolated populations from the Southern-Alpine Lakes, which are partly separated from others by high mountains around it, often a stronger introgression of Ophrys incubacea or Ophrys sphegodes is visible e.g. by disintegration of the speculum. |
